Chloe Diaz scored both goals Saturday when host Montrose claimed the District 2 Class A girls soccer title with a 2-1 overtime victory over Lakeland.
The Lady Chiefs had beaten the Lady Meteors out of the Lackawanna League Division 2 title in a close race, but Montrose gained the top seed and championship game home field with a better overall performance on the season.
Montrose avenged a loss in last year’s final when Aspen Smith set up Diaz for the overtime game-winner.
Riley Keihl had assisted a Diaz goal for a 1-0 halftime lead.
The championship sent Montrose (14-2) into the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state tournament against District 4 runner-up Southern Columbia (14-6-1) Tuesday night at 6 at Scranton Memorial Stadium.

Following a quarterfinal bye, Montrose began play in the seven-team bracket with Thursday’s semifinal win in which Smith and Gracie Dalton scored two goals each.
Lakeland 7, Dunmore 2
Nadia Gill, Brooke Hill and Kirsten Navich all scored two goals for Lakeland in Thursday’s semifinal victory.
Alisha Davis had both Dunmore goals.
QUARTERFINALS
Lakeland 12, Carbondale 0
Abby Davis and Gill each had hat tricks Wednesday in Lakeland’s quarterfinal rout.
Navich added two goals.
Elk Lake 4, Forest City 1
Elk Lake won at home in the Nov. 1 game.
Dunmore 8, Mountain View 3
Alisha Davis scored five times in the Nov. 1 game.
She had two goals and an assist in a 4-0 start in the first 11 minutes an completed her hat trick on the way to a 6-2 halftime lead.
