The conference champions and are also the top seeds for district tournaments and the top-ranked teams in the Riverfront Sports Super Six Girls Tennis Power Rankings of District 2 teams as the district gets set to move into quarterfinal playoff action Monday.
Unbeatens Abington Heights and Wyoming Seminary, the Big School and Small School No. 1 teams, are the top seeds for the Class 3A and 2A tournaments.
Only one of the 15 matches needed to determine the two district champions has been played and that was the one preliminary match required to set the quarterfinal field in Class 2A.
The regular season concluded this week and the rankings, as girls tennis transitions from regular season to the playoffs, did not contain any changes from a week ago when they were released Saturday night.
The 12 teams that make up the two sets of Super Six teams went a combined 20-5. They were 15-0 were facing unranked teams with all five of the losses coming when the higher-ranked team beat the lower-ranked team in meetings between members of the Super Six.
Lackawanna League champion Abington Heights is followed in the Big Schools by North Pocono, West Scranton, Crestwood, Wallenpaupack and Delaware Valley.
Wyoming Valley Conference champion Wyoming Seminary is followed in the Small Schools by Scranton Prep, Riverside, Dallas, Holy Redeemer and Holy Cross.
The official District 2 seedings nearly match the Super Six. The only exception is the third and fourth spots are reversed in both classes, with No. 4 Crestwood seeded above No. 3 West Scranton in Class 3A and No. 4 Dallas seeded above No. 3 Riverside in Class 2A.
The district seedings are determined through a mathematical formula District 2 uses across all sports.
