Comets impress in tennis opener

Abington Heights players posted 6-0 wins in half the sets March 20 when the Comets opened defense of their Lackawanna League boys tennis title with a 5-0 shutout of Scranton.

Singles players Praneel Mallaiah, Sam Christman and Domenic Peters all won, 6-0, 6-1.

The number-one doubles team of Liam Farrell-Pranav Palle won, 6-0, 6-0.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Jackson Matash had 26 service points, including 13 aces, and 16 assists as Berwick dominated Lackawanna Trail in a 25-8, 25-9, 25-9, non-league sweep.

Brock Seely had 11 kills for Berwick (2-0). Blaze Croop added 19 points, 7 of them on aces.
