Comets leading both rankings

Abington Heights continues to have one of the two unbeaten boys teams and is one of three remaining unbeaten girls teams following this week’s results.

The Comets also now hold both No. 1 rankings in the latest Century Dental Associates Cross Country Power Rankings of District 2 teams, following a shuffle caused by the latest results.

Dallas handed Crestwood its first girls loss in three seasons, altering the top of the girls rankings.

Abington Heights, Montrose and Dallas each moved up one spot to first, second and third while Crestwood tumbled from first to fourth in the girls rankings.

The unbeaten Holy Redeemer boys also moved up this week, along with the Crestwood and Elk Lake boys. The Scranton girls also gained ground in the rankings.

The Berwick and Montrose boys as well as the North Pocono girls joined the rankings.

Lackawanna League leader Abington Heights and Wyoming Valley Conference leader Holy Redeemer, the two unbeaten teams, are 1-2 in the boys rankings.

Honesdale held third after handing former No. 2 Scranton its second loss.

Crestwood, which suffered is only loss in a tiebreaker early in the season, is up from fifth to fourth.

Lake-Lehman remains sixth.

Elk Lake won all three meets this week to jump from 11th to seventh.

Berwick rejoined the rankings in eighth, winning its four meets, including beating Pittston Area, which slipped from seventh to ninth.

Dallas also dropped two spots, settling in 10th.

Valley View dipped to 11th and Montrose moved into the 12th spot.

Holy Cross and Scranton Prep fell from the rankings.

The three unbeaten teams and Crestwood are followed in the rankings by Scranton, which won its three meets to jump up from seventh to fifth.

Honesdale and Wallenpaupack dropped one spot each to sixth and seventh.

Wyoming Area, Lake-Lehman, Holy Redeemer and Delaware Valley held the next four spots.

North Pocono took over 12th, replacing Scranton Prep after the Classics lost all three of their meets.
