Crestwood used an extreme advantage in the ground game to run over visiting Wyoming Area, 49-7, Friday night in a non-league game between Wyoming Valley Conference football teams.
The Comets went exclusively with the running game, turning 41 carries into 551 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Eight Comets had runs of at least 11 yards, the length of the longest of Wyoming Area’s 28 running plays. The Warriors were held to 64 rushing yards.
Noah Schultz carried 14 times for 191 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead Crestwood, which got one rushing touchdown from each of 4 other players.
Freshman quarterback Jaden Shedlock carried 5 times for 91 yards, including a 69-yard touchdown.
Brady Davidson had 68 yards and a touchdown on 9 carries.
Nick Miscavage took his only carry 63 yards for a touchdown.
Brendon Dennis had a 54-yarder.
Mayson Girton had three tackles for losses while Mason Bibla and Lincoln Bibla had sacks for Crestwood, which improved to 2-1.
Wyoming Area (1-2) has managed just one touchdown while losing its last two games.
Damien Lefkoski threw over the middle to Michael Crane for a 24-yard touchdown pass for the Warriors, pulling them within 14-7.
Crestwood never slowed down, however, scoring on its first six possessions for a 42-7 halftime lead.
