EXETER – Crestwood placed four players in the 70s Thursday on the way to its third and most decisive victory of the season over second-place Hazleton Area, remaining undefeated with a 303-331 victory in the Wyoming Valley Conference Class 3A boys golf team final.

Owen Blazick led the way with a 2-over-par, 73 as the Comets added the WVC Class 3A playoff title to their Division 1 championship.

The win sends Crestwood into Tuesday’s 8:55 a.m. District 2 Class 3A Team Boys Golf Championship match against Lackawanna League champion Abington Heights back at Fox Hill Country Club.

The Comets mastered Fox Hill Thursday when Derek Johnson added a 74, Tommy Biscotti a 77 and Ray Joseph a 79.

Crestwood had needed a tiebreaker to defeat Hazleton Area at Valley Country Club, then won by 13 strokes at home at Blue Ridge Trail in a nine-hole league match. The Comets handled the 18-hole conference final by a 28-stroke margin.

Connor Matteo led Crestwood with a 77.

Gabe Fatula and Jake Babinchak added 84s.
