Crossley’s 7 TDs lead Warriors

Aaron Crossley turned 16 carries into 337 yards and 7 touchdowns Friday night as Wyoming Area shook off two early Holy Redeemer touchdown returns to pull away for a 56-18 victory in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 football game.

Wyoming Area maintained its division lead and moved above .500 overall to 4-3.

Crossley went over the 1,000-yard mark rushing in the process. He has 1,272 yards total. In four division games, all victories by the Warriors, he has run for 17 touchdowns.

Wyoming Area ran for 556 yards and 8 touchdowns on 51 carries.

Sophomore Michael Crane carried 13 times for 101 yards in his first start at quarterback.

Crossley scored on 87- and 1-yard runs for a 14-0 lead with the help of the first two of eight straight Liam Burke extra points.

Zach Perta then returned the kickoff 93 yards for a score and Darryl Wright stripped the ball and took off for a 44-yard fumble return to pull the Royals within 14-12.

Crossley made it 21-12 after one quarter with a 29-yard run.

Wyoming Area scored 21 more points in the second quarter on the next three Crossley touchdowns.

Crossley scored from 16 yards in the first minute of the quarter, then 37 and 36 yards 38 seconds apart later in the quarter for a 42-12 halftime lead.

The seventh Crossley touchdown came on his last carry of the night with 9:50 left in the third quarter, putting the rest of the game in the Mercy Rule on his 4-yard run for a 49-12 lead.

Jacob Hunter passed 64 yards to Lou Lussi for the last Holy Redeemer touchdown.

Wyoming Area’s Lidge Kellum ran 4 yards for the game’s final touchdown.
