Dallas leads final rankings

The three championship teams held on to the top three spots in the final Riverfront Sports Boys Tennis Power Rankings of District 2 teams this season.

Dallas, the team that won two titles, remained at No. 1.

The Mountaineers are champions of the Wyoming Valley Conference and, more recently, District 2 Class 2A. They went 12-0 without losing a team point in any match.

Scranton Prep, which won the Lackawanna League before having its perfect record ruined by Dallas in the district final, is second.

District 2 Class 3A champion Abington Heights, which lost only to Scranton Prep in the Lackawanna finale, is third.

All of the top five teams held their positions from the previous week with Crestwood fourth and Dunmore fifth.

Crestwood’s only losses were to Dallas in WVC play and Abington Heights in the district Class 3A final. The Comets finished second in both the league and district.

Dunmore reached the District 2 Class 2A semifinals.

The changes come in the bottom three spots with Honesdale swapping positions with Wyoming Seminary, taking over sixth. They were scheduled to meet in the district quarterfinals, but Honesdale never got to compete because of COVID-19 protocols.

Valley View replaces Holy Redeemer as the eighth team.
