Important dates for PIAA, District 2, Lackawanna Interscholastic Athletic Association and Wyoming Valley Conference sports this winter:
Friday, November 18
The first formal sports activity for the 2022-23 winter sports season for Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association member schools is taking place with official practices beginning in boys and girls basketball, boys and girls swimming and boys and girls wrestling. This is also the first day for competitive spirit, indoor track and field, bowling and girls gymnastics.
Friday, November 25
Basketball, swimming and wrestling teams are allowed their first multi-team scrimmages.
Friday, December 2
Basketball, swimming and wrestling teams can begin regular-season competition, which generally tends to be non-league and tournament action at this stage.
Tuesday, December 6
Opening day for Lackawanna League boys and girls swimming.
Thursday, December 8
Opening day for Wyoming Valley Conference boys and girls swimming.
Wednesday, December 14
Opening day for Wyoming Valley Conference wrestling.
Saturday, December 17
Lackawanna League Wrestling Tournament at Wallenpaupack

Opening day for Wyoming Valley Conference girls basketball and Lackawanna League wrestling.
