Del. Valley falls to 0-3 in football

Downingtown East rallied in the second half to spoil Delaware Valley’s home opener and keep the Warriors winless on the season with a 28-20, non-league football victory Friday night.

The Warriors, Lackawanna Football Conference Division 1 and District 2 Class 6A champions in 2021, are off to an 0-3 start while playing all its early games against opponents outside District 2.

Delaware Valley led, 14-7, before Downingtown East scored three straight touchdowns.

The Cougars improved to 2-1.

Jayden Ramirez led the Warriors offensively, catching 8 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown.

With Downingtown East limiting Delaware Valley to 34 yards rushing, Tyler Bird threw 32 passes. He completed 14 for 194 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Jake Brower, who had the other touchdown catch, and Aiden Black each had three receptions.

Paul Weinrich ran for a touchdown and kicked two extra points.

Ryder Machado and Justin Kalitsnik led the Delaware Valley defense, each making 6 tackles and assisting on 10.
