Delaware Valley rejoins rankings

Delaware Valley advanced to the District 2 Class 3A team tournament semifinals and, in the process, returned to the Riverfront Sports Elite Eight Boys Tennis Power Rankings of district teams when the newest set was posted early Sunday morning.

The top six teams, all among the nine teams left still pursuing district titles, remained the same.

Unbeaten Lackawanna League champion and District 2 Class 3A top seed Abington Heights held the top spot.

Dallas completed a second straight unbeaten Wyoming Valley Conference season by handing Wyoming Area its first loss. The Mountaineers advanced to the District 2 Class 2A semifinals and protected their No. 2 ranking.

Both Abington Heights and Dallas are also defending district champions.

Holy Cross, another semifinalist, is third.

Wyoming Area, which does not play its district quarterfinal until Monday, remained in fourth after its 3-2 loss to Dallas.

Scranton Prep and Valley View held steady in fifth and sixth.

Delaware Valley returned to the rankings in seventh.

Wyoming Seminary dropped from seventh to eighth after falling to Scranton Prep in the Class 2A quarterfinals.

Tunkhannock, which is waiting to play Wyoming Area in the quarterfinals Monday, dropped from the rankings.
