North Pocono, Wyoming Area and Holy Cross each used division championships to help land top seeds in the District 2 boys soccer playoffs, which begin Monday and conclude with three games in a five-day stretch.
Hazleton Area is the top seed for the District 2-4 Class 4A Subregional playoffs.
The pairings were announced by District 2 through its website Thursday.
The Class 4A subregional is a six-team tournament.
The other three classifications are all eight teams.
North Pocono is the champion of Lackawanna League Division 1. Crestwood, the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 champion, is the third seed in Class 3A behind the Trojans and Valley View.
Wyoming Area is the WVC Division 2 champion and the only team to have a perfect league season. The Warriors have the district’s best overall record at 17-1 with the only loss coming to North Pocono.
Holy Cross won Lackawanna Division 2 and landed the top seed in Class A over Lackawanna Division 3 champion Blue Ridge, which is second.
Quarterfinals in all classes are scheduled Monday, followed by Wednesday semifinals and Nov. 5 championship games.
Top seeds are particularly important in soccer because the higher seed hosts all games, including the final, providing it has an adequate playing facility, as determined by the district committee.
