UPDATED: District 2 reschedules girls tennis singles tournament

Seeds were determined Tuesday night for the District 2 girls tennis singles tournament, which is has been switched to Friday and Monday at Kirby Park and the Wilkes University courts.

District 2 announced the scheduling change, from the original starting date of Thursday, on its website Wednesday afternoon.

The change was made because of a forecast of rain throughout the day Thursday.

District 2 team champions Abington Heights and Scranton Prep and Wyoming Valley Conference champion Wyoming Seminary each have two seeded players.

There are six seeds in the 22-player Class 3A tournament and eight seeds in the 33-player Class 2A event.

Susan Arp and Rina Hanumali are seeded 1-2 in Class 3A one year after teaming to win the District 2 Class 3A title.

Wyoming Seminary’s Ilana Rosenthal is the top seed in Class 2A after being a finalist last year as a freshman.
