Dream Game: Quotable

The 88th annual Dream Game is scheduled for Wednesday night at Valley View’s John Henzes/Veterans Memorial Stadium in Peckville at 7.

The Scranton Lions Club game for recent Lackawanna Football Conference graduates is presented by Northeast Rehab.

See what some of the participants had to say about the experience, the game’s history and more in interviews with NEPASportsNation.com and our partner website, NEPAFootball.com:

City fullback/linebacker Michael Golay from Scranton Prep and Sacred Heart University

“I usually followed the Dream Game because I’ve always followed high school football, but I did last year especially because a lot of my friends and teammates played in it.”

County linebacker Andrew Heid from Valley View

“It’s great meeting new teammates, but also playing with my old teammates who are like family to me.”

City head coach Steve Jervis from Lackawanna Trail

“We’re pretty wing-T through and through. I’m sold on it. It’s been a big part of what we do. … There’s a lot of things we can do. It’s actually a pretty universal offense. We just have to make sure we play it to these kids’ strengths.”

County wide receiver/defensive back Sean Mackinder from Valley View and Assumption College

“I’ve been going to Dream Games as long as I can remember. My brother (Matt) played in it a few years ago, so that was a cool experience to watch him play in it. It’s a fun time, almost like starting off football season and everyone’s getting into football mode.”

County wide receiver/defensive back Nick Mancuso from Lakeland

“It feels great knowing that around this whole area, great football players, that I was picked as one of the all-stars.”

County coach Keith Olsommer from Delaware Valley

“These guys are the best of the best in our area.”

County fullback/defense end Dante Randle from Valley View and Hobart College

“I’m really looking forward to playing with my boys again. We made a lot of memories here throughout high school.”

County wide receiver/defensive back Ethan Tallo from Old Forge and East Stroudsburg University

“It’s a great experience. The chemistry is really going together. I can’t want to get on the field.”
