DV girls swim to third straight win

WESTFALL TOWNSHIP – Lexi Ristaino and Sierra Hartmann each had four wins Tuesday to help Delaware Valley post a 119-56 Lackawanna League girls swimming victory in its home pool.

The meet matched two teams that came in with 2-0 records and ranked in the Riverfront Sports Super Six Swimming Power Rankings of District 2 teams. Delaware Valley is No. 4 and Valley View No. 6.

The 200-yard medley relay started off the meet. Hartmann, Ristaino, Kaitlyn O’Connell and Anaya Ruiz won the race with a time of 1:58.21 while their competitors had a time of 1:59.72. Victoria Corcoran took a win in the 200 freestyle and Ristaino added her second win of the day in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:25.79.

The Lady Warriors had three entries in the diving competition. Victoria Willson took first place adding points to Delaware Valley’s lead.

The second half of the meet included Hartmann getting her individual wins in the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke along with a relay win in the 400 freestyle relay.

Valley View’s Molly Hubal won the 100 freestyle with a time of 55:30.

The Delaware Valley boys won all events in a 146-18 rout of Valley View.

Bobby Holderith led the boys with two individual wins and two relay wins. Zac Madewell won the diving.

Both Delaware Valley teams, which are off until facing Abington Heights Jan. 13, are 3-0. The girls share first place with Elk Lake while the boys are along in first.

After Valley View presented more of a test to the girls team, Abington Heights will bring a stronger boys team with a 3-1 record.
