Fedor, Comets run over Trojans

Mason Fedor scored a career-high 24 points and Abington Heights ran off 19 straight points Tuesday night as the Comets ran over visiting North Pocono, 65-49, in a Lackawanna League Division 1-2 crossover game matching division leaders.

Fedor, who also finished with 12 rebounds and 5 steals, was held scoreless in the first quarter as North Pocono stayed within 14-13. He then scored 10 points each in the second and third quarters.

The Trojans trailed just 23-20 midway through the second quarter.

Abington Heights held North Pocono scoreless for 5:34 to take a 42-20 lead.

The streak included 13 points in just 1:36 to open the lead to 18 points with a minute left in the half.

Abington Heights got baskets from six different players in the 19-0 run.

Roman Cutrufello had two steals while Abington Heights was forcing five turnovers in two minutes late in the half. He also hit the only 3-pointer in the game-breaking streak.

Will Marion and Robby Lucas combined to get the Comets through the first quarter until Fedor’s offense could heat up. Marion had eight points and Lucas six.

Marion finished with 12 points and Lucas had 10. Ryan Nealon dished out five assists.

North Pocono’s A.J. Nemitz made three second-half 3-pointers and scored 12 of his team-high 17 points in the third quarter.

Noah West had 16 points, including 7 in the fourth quarter.

Abington Heights improved to 9-0 in the division and 17-1 overall heading into its Friday game at second-place Valley View.

North Pocono slipped to 5-4 and 9-8, but maintained a one-game lead in the division.
