Football all-star selections

Crestwood and Lakeland were the top Big School and Small School teams in District 2 throughout the season and that success was reflected in the NPF All-Stars, the divisional football all-star teams picked by our partner website, NEPAFootball.com

Crestwood representatives claimed three of the four awards in conjunction with the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 all-star team.

The Comets won the division as well as claiming the District 2 title and reaching the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state semifinals in Class 4A. They had Magnus Bibla named Defensive Player of the Year, John Jones Lineman of the Year and Ryan Arcangeli named Coach of the Year.

Parker Bolesta from Dallas was selected as Offensive Player of the Year.

Similarly, District 2 Class 2A champion Lakeland took three of the four major honors to go along with its title in Lackawanna Football Conference Division 2.

Dominico Spataro and Lacota Dippre were named Offensive and Defense Players of the Year, while Dave Piwowarczyk was selected as the top coach.

Western Wayne’s Kyle Guarino was the division’s Lineman of the Year.

Crestwood was the No. 1 Big School and Lakeland was the No. 1 Small School in the Gaughan Auto Store Super Six Power Rankings of District 2 teams, also selected by NEPAFootball.com.

Rivals split the awards in WVC Division 2 and LFC Division 3.

David Sudo was the Defensive Player of the Year and Nick Barbieri Coach of the Year for WVC Division 2 champion Pittston Area. Aaron Crossley and Ethan Speece from Wyoming Area were selected as the top offensive player and lineman.
