District 2 has 11 first-round football playoffs – some quarterfinal and some semifinal – scheduled for this weekend, including one that was moved from Friday to Saturday.
There is also a District 2 team, Wyoming Valley West, participating in the District 2-11 Class 5A Subregional semifinals.
Unbeatens Scranton Prep, in the District 2 Class 4A quarterfinals, and Old Forge, in the District 1-2-12 Class A Subregional semifinals, earned byes.
In addition, there are two District 2 teams playing in Eastern Conference playoff games that are not part of the state qualifying system.
