D.J. Heath scored 14 of his 27 points while Forest City was breaking away in the fourth quarter Friday night to win a battle for the Lackawanna League Division 4 boys basketball lead, 61-48, over host Montrose.
The Foresters and Meteors were the division’s last two unbeaten teams entering the game.
The game was close throughout the first three quarters and the fourth quarter started with Forest City ahead just 43-41.
Forest City allowed only one field goal while outscoring Montrose, 18-7, in the fourth quarter.
Heath went 9-for-12 from the line during the fourth quarter.
Dylan Bezek had a double-double. He scored 14 of his 17 points in the first half and finished with 12 rebounds.
Davon Reams made four steals.
Sam Stashko scored 14 points and Jack Russell 12 for Montrose.

Susquehanna 57, Elk Lake 53
J.T. Burke and Colton Stone led the way as Susquehanna posted its first win of the season.
The host Sabers (1-13) had lost 14 straight, including the 2021-22 season finale.
Burke scored 16 of his 22 points in the first half, helping the Sabers to a 29-24 lead.
Elk Lake closed within 36-33 after three quarters.
Stone had 13 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter to secure the win. He was 4-for-5 from the line in the quarter while the team was going 10-for-13.
Isaac Gesford led Elk Lake with 17 points.
