GIRLS: Berwick downs Riverside

RaeAnn Andreas and Rachel Whitenight combined for 37 points Thursday night while leading Berwick past visiting Riverside, 57-34, in a non-league girls basketball game.

Andreas and Carly Ochs each scored seven points and Whitenight had six in the third quarter when Berwick extended a 24-17 halftime lead to 47-23. Andreas finished with 19 points.

Whitenight had a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Alysa Lewis, who hit three 3-pointers, and Ochs finished with nine points each in the win.

Lillie Pon led Riverside with 16 points.

In other Thursday non-league games:

Scranton 65, Nanticoke 50

Maggie O’Shea scored 19 points to lead Scranton past host Nanticoke.

O’Shea and Finley Bittenbender, who added 15 points, each had three 3-pointers.

Lanee Olson scored 11 points in the win.

The Lady Knights opened leads of 18-6 after one quarter and 41-21 at halftime.

Claire Aufiero led Nanticoke with 19 points.

Old Forge 33, Lackawanna Trail 28

Old Forge won for the second straight night and handed host Lackawanna Trail its first loss after a 2-0 start.

North Pocono 46, Mid Valley 7

North Pocono held host Mid Valley scoreless in the second quarter to take a 25-1 halftime lead.

Elk Lake 42, Sayre 16

Elk Lake scored the first 12 points of the second quarter to open an 18-2 lead at Sayre.

Wallenpaupack 60, Lakeland 22

Wallenpaupack improved to 3-0, all at home and all by at least 25 points.
