Mackenzie Schirg scored 18 points and helped Lackawanna Trail open a big lead in the second quarter Tuesday night when the Lady Lions defeated visiting Blue Ridge, 45-32, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 girls basketball opener.
Schirg hit a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter when Lackawanna Trail outscored Blue Ridge, 13-2, to open a 28-10 halftime lead.
Gretchen Rejrat hit two baskets and Reagan Norman made a 3-pointer in the quarter.
Samantha Duffy added 10 points while Rejrat had 8.
Emma Button led Blue Ridge with 16 points.
Montrose 49, Lakeland 17
Two-time defending champion Montrose had the first bye in Lackawanna Division 4.
The Lady Meteors played at Lakeland rolled to a non-league win, opening a 30-3 halftime lead.
