Berwick showed it was ready for the start of its District 2-4 Class 3A Subregional girls volleyball title defense with a 25-5 opening set Thursday night.
The Wyoming Valley Conference champion Lady Bulldogs remained undefeated by completing the sweep of visiting Nanticoke, taking the last two sets, 25-11, 25-17.
Sarah Steeber had 11 service points, 8 kills and 2 aces in the victory.
Morgan Nevel had 10 digs, 9 points and 3 aces. Camille Pinterich had 10 digs, 10 points, 4 assists and 3 aces. Claire Reira-Gomez added six points, three kills and an ace.
Berwick is 18-0 and, as the top seed, hosts Monday’s semifinal doubleheader.
North Pocono (18-4) and Dallas (14-4) will meet in the 5 p.m. opener. Berwick will take on Pittston Area (13-6) a half hour after the completion of the first match.
Pittston Area landed its spot against Berwick by defeating visiting Crestwood, 25-17, 25-15, 26-24.
Jess Ostrowski had 22 assists and 7 service points in the win.
Tyra Winters served 14 points, Maura Mihalka 11 and Emma Rinaldi 8.
Rinaldi also had a team-high nine kills. Mihalka had 10 digs and Winters 7.
North Pocono bounced back from its loss to Blue Ridge in Monday’s Lackawanna League Division 1 championship match to defeat District 4’s Shamokin, 25-15, 25-17, 25-15.
The only match that was not a sweep was Dallas recovering from dropping the first set to defeat Tunkhannock, 24-26, 25-12, 25-21, 25-17.
