Tristan Canavan scored 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds Thursday night when Dunmore showed off an extremely efficient offense while clinching at least a tie for first place in Lackawanna League Division 3 girls basketball with a 63-30 win at rival Holy Cross.
The Lady Bucks need just one win in their final two games to win their 10th straight division title. They host Old Forge Monday night at 7.
The Lady Bucks scored 28 points in the first quarter with the help of two 3-pointers each by Sophia Talutto and Cadie Lewis.
Talutto, Lewis and Ciera Toomey all joined Canavan in scoring in double figures as part of an offense that shot 53.3 percent from the floor, 63.6 percent on 3-pointers and 88.9 percent from the line while committing just five turnovers.
Each of the double-figures scorers also made other contributions for the Lady Bucks, who improved to 10-0 in the division.
Talutto finished with 12 points and 5 assists.
Lewis went 3-for-4 on 3-pointers while adding 11 points and 5 assists.
Toomey had 10 points in 6 minutes, going 4-for-4 from the floor and 2-for-2 on free throws. She also made two steals.
The strong shooting night included Sophia Summa going 3-for-5 and Amanda Dempsey going 2-for-3 while making her only 3-point attempt.
In Wednesday’s other Lackawanna Division 3 girls basketball games: Mid Valley defeated Riverside, 45-38, and Old Forge downed Lakeland, 57-47.
