The Mountain View girls basketball team is headed to the state quarterfinals for the first time in school history and freshman Addison Kilmer is leading the Lady Eagles there.
Kilmer continued her standout postseason Wednesday night with a strong all-around effort as Mountain View was in control throughout a 41-26 victory over the Christian School of York in a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class A girls basketball second-round game at Blue Mountain High School in Schuylkill County.
The 6-foot-1 center scored 23 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, blocked 4 shots and made 5 steals.
District 2 champion Mountain View improved to 20-6 and landed a Saturday game with District 4 champion Meadowbrook Christian (21-2) at Wyoming Area at 1 p.m.
The Lady Eagles held the Defenders, the third-place team from District 3, scoreless for exactly nine minutes to begin the game.
Mountain View led 9-0 after one quarter with the help of two baskets by Vanessa Harvey and a 3-pointer by Kilmer.
Christian School of York scored before Mountain View could add to its lead in the second quarter.
Addison Kilmer hit another 3-pointer and scored five points in the second quarter while her sister, Ryleigh Kilmer, added four points as the Lady Eagles took an 18-10 halftime lead.
Addison Kilmer scored all six Mountain View third-quarter points as Christian School of York closed to within 25-17 going to the fourth quarter.
Another nine points by Addison Kilmer, combined with four from Claire Getz, helped the Lady Eagles put the game away in the fourth quarter.
Ryleigh Kilmer finished with seven assists.
Harvey scored six points.
Getz and Lily Sedlak contributed six rebounds each.
The Defenders (22-5) were led by Ryleigh Brown, who scored 12 points, including 8 in the second quarter. Rylie Bell hit two 3-pointers while scoring all eight of her points in the second half.
