One game after having its Lackawanna League Division 4 girls basketball winning streak ended, Montrose made sure to extend its championship streak.
Mia Snyder scored 20 points and the Lady Meteors ran away early in a 65-14 rout of visiting Forest City to clinch their third straight Division 4 title.
Montrose had clinched at least a tie for first place last week with a hard-fought victory over Mountain View. The first chance to clinch the outright title, however, was spoiled when Elk Lake ended Montrose’s 37-game division winning streak Thursday.
The win over last-place Forest City improved Montrose to 10-1 in the division and 17-4 overall, giving the Lady Meteors a two-game lead with just one game to play.
Hayley Pompey added 15 points, Paley Adams 10 and Riley Keihl 8 in the clinching win.
Snyder scored eight points in the first quarter as Montrose took a 25-4 lead.
The Lady Meteors shut out the Lady Foresters in the second quarter while getting six points each from Snyder and Pompey to make the lead 47-4.
The lead reached 55-6 after three quarters.
Sarah Spinelli scored five points to lead Forest City.
