Lady Trojans reach own final

Abby Lenchitsky and Kylie Mastillo helped North Pocono protect a second-half lead while sharing scoring honors Tuesday when the host Lady Trojans defeated Crestwood, 41-35, to reach Thursday’s championship game in the James Akens Memorial Tournament.

North Pocono will face Gwynedd-Mercy Academy, a 54-23 winner over Wyoming Valley West, for the title.

Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 rivals Wyoming Valley West and Crestwood, who just played in their conference opener with Wyoming Valley West winning, will play for third place Thursday at 3 p.m.

North Pocono took leads of 12-8 after one quarter and 22-17 at halftime.

Lenchitsky had seven points in the third quarter to help make it 34-24.

Mastillo scored six in the fourth as the Lady Trojans held on from there.

Kylie Mastillo made three 3-pointers while adding nine points.

Kate Gallagher led Crestwood with 13 points while Keira Dougherty had 12.

Gwynedd-Mercy Academy 54, Wyoming Valley West 23

Hannah Griffin scored 16 points to lead Gwynedd-Mercy Academy to victory in the tournament opener.

Gwynedd-Mercy led 27-9 at halftime.

Mackenzie Perluke led Wyoming Valley West with 10 points.
