Lake-Lehman moves into 7th spot

Following a week filled with wins, it was an impressive effort in defeat that impacted the latest Electric City Volleyball Academy Elite Eight Power Rankings of District 2 girls teams.

In stark contrast to the previous week when every team between No. 3 and No. 8 lost, ranked teams combined to go 19-2 – 17-0 when not facing each other – in the timeframe of Oct. 7-13.

One of the two losses came when Lake-Lehman took No. 3 Holy Redeemer to five sets before falling.

With wins in their other two matches, the Lady Knights climbed one spot to seventh in the latest rankings, which were released late Friday morning.

Lake-Lehman traded places with Pittston Area.

The top six are unchanged.

Wyoming Valley Conference and District 2-4 Class 3A Subregional leader Berwick remains No. 1. The unbeaten Lady Bulldogs posted two sweeps and have won all but 3 of their 48 sets this season.

District 2-4 Class 4A Subregional leader Delaware Valley is second and District 2 Class 2A leader Holy Redeemer is third.

Dallas, which won four of five matches with the loss coming to No. 1 Berwick, held on to fourth.

Lackawanna League Division 1 co-leaders North Pocono and Blue Ridge held fifth and sixth.

North Pocono had a 4-0 week, including three wins over WVC teams in non-league play.

Blue Ridge also leads the race for the top seed in District 2 Class A.
