Dylan Mateus scored 20 points and Ben Chilson reached 1,000 for his career Tuesday night as Tunkhannock rolled over visiting Lackawanna Trail, 66-30, in a non-league boys basketball game.
Chilson entered the game needing 13 points for the milestone. He got a fast start toward the mark and got the Tigers headed toward their rout.
Tunkhannock led 19-6 after eight minutes with the help of eight points by Chilson.
Mateus took it from there. He had all of his points, with the help of four 3-pointers, as the lead ballooned to 56-20 through three quarters.
Ethan Ergott had two 3-pointers to score eight points while Mateus added seven in the second quarter.
Mateus scored eight points in the third quarter when Chilson added four to move within a point of 1,000.
The game was into the running clock of the Mercy Rule by then.
Chilson reached the mark with the first point of the fourth quarter. He grabbed an offensive rebound with a little under six minutes left and was fouled on the putback attempt.
When he made the first of two attempts, Chilson arrived at exactly 1,000, where he ended the game when he missed the second try, following a stoppage to celebrate the milestone.
Lackawanna Trail was led by Jake Antolick with 17 points.
