Montrose scored twice in the first 6:21, then held on for a 14-6, non-league football victory over host Hanover Area Friday night.
Lance Rought was the game’s leading rusher, including a 49-yard run to set up the first touchdowns and returned a fumble 57 yards for the second Montrose score.
Wyatt Nabywaniec’s 1-yard run opened the scoring.
Gus Brown added the two-point conversion following Rought’s touchdown to give the Meteors a 14-0 lead.
Montrose held Hanover Area to 35 yards rushing and kept the Hawkeyes scoreless until the fourth quarter.
The Hawkeyes followed up a blocked punt by scoring with 2:19 left.
Brown then ran four yards on a fourth-and-three play to allow the Meteors (2-3) to run the remaining time off the clock.
