The Golden Dome Abstract Super Six Field Hockey Power Rankings of District 2 teams are unchanged this week, but for two different reasons.
The top half of the Super Six had a big week, combining to go 7-1 with the only loss coming in a game that matched two of the nation’s top six teams, according to maxfieldhockey.com.
The next three teams in the rankings that were released early Friday afternoon were a combined 2-5 on the week, but each still has the season-long credentials to hold the spots above others being considered.
Wyoming Seminary, which had the loss to The Hill School, completed a perfect run through Division 1 of the Wyoming Valley Conference and remains No. 1.
Wyoming Area, which has only lost to Wyoming Seminary in the last two seasons, is still second after finishing second to the Blue Knights in the Division 1 standings and passing them in the ratings race for the top seed in the District 2 Class A playoffs.
Crestwood, in line for the top seed in the District 2 Class 2A playoffs, is third.
Fourth-ranked Lake-Lehman lost its only game of the week. The Lady Knights are on a four-game losing streak after starting 10-1, and have been shut out three times in that streak. The streak, however, is against the top three teams in the Super Six and nationally ranked Louisville Sacred Heart.
No. 5 Honesdale, No. 6 Hazleton Area and Lackawanna Trail, the team that Hazleton Area had replaced in the rankings last week, all lost twice during the week.
Lackawanna Trail was unable to take advantage of beating Honesdale when it was upset by Wilkes-Barre Area.
Wyoming Valley West, the other team to be ranked this season, finished tied with Hazleton Area and Lackawanna Trail in the final division standings, but has lost four of the last five.
