Addison Kilmer scored 23 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and blocked 3 shots Monday night when she led a second-half comeback that carried Mountain View past visiting Elk Lake, 35-29, in Opening Night of the Lackawanna League Division 4 girls basketball season.
Kilmer, a 6-foot-1 freshman, scored 17 points in the second half, more than Mountain View managed as a team in the first half when it fell behind, 17-12.
“We got off to a slow start,” Lady Eagles coach Bill Simons said. “We were down five at halftime. We forced 11 turnovers in the third quarter and Addison made two 3-pointers to give us a spark.”
Riley Kilmer, Addison’s sister, also hit a 3-pointer during the third quarter to help Mountain View take the lead.
The Lady Eagles improved to 5-3 overall, surpassing last season’s victory total.
In the other Division 4 opener:
Susquehanna 37, Forest City 25
Bella Bishop scored 15 and grabbed 7 rebounds as the Lady Sabers won on the road.
Lexi Iveson added 14 points.
Mya Clark scored all 12 first-half points for Forest City and finished with 15 points.
