Nanticoke and Wyoming Area picked up home-court wins Thursday night when the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 boys basketball schedule got underway.
The third scheduled opener was postponed, along with all three games on the WVC Division 1 schedule:

Nanticoke 60, Wyoming Seminary 47
Jaidyn Johnson scored 23 points to lead Nanticoke’s come-from-behind victory on a night when the Trojans honored the latest inductees into the school’s Wall of Fame.
The Trojans overcame 25 points by Isiah Stull and a fast start by the Blue Knights.
Stull made four 3-pointers, including two in the first quarter when Wyoming Seminary took a 14-9 lead.
The Blue Knights still led 24-21 at halftime.
Nanticoke took care of that with a 27-point third quarter.
Johnson, Caleb Butczynski and Gavin Turak all scored seven points in the quarter to help the Trojans move in front, 48-38. Butczynski, Turak, Liam Mullery and Ibn Jordan Thomas made 3-pointers during the offensive outburst.
Butczynski finished with 13 points and Turak had 11.
Chief Montalvo added 10 points for the Blue Knights.
Playing from behind, Wyoming Seminary managed just nine points in the fourth quarter, all but two of them by Stull.
Wyoming Area 78, MMI Prep 44
Dane Schutter scored 29 points to lead the way in Wyoming Area’s victory.
Schutter had 11 points in the first quarter when the Warriors opened a 23-12 lead. He had seven more in the second and Wyoming Area led 43-26 at halftime. Schutter completed his scoring with 11 more in the third quarter as the Warriors opened their advantage to 66-37.
Lukas Burakiewicz added 18 points with the help of four 3-pointers. Anthony DeLucca chipped in with 10.
MMI Prep’s Lex Lispi also hit four 3-pointers. He finished with 14 points.
