NP boys, Crestwood girls end No. 1

With conference, district and state competition to use as evaluation and the season complete, the final Century Dental Associates Cross Country Power Rankings of District 2 teams were released late Monday morning.

They look much like the season-opening rankings.

The top seven boys teams and five of the top six girls teams from the preseason rankings wound up within two spots of their original position.

The North Pocono boys and Crestwood girls, both District 2 Class 3A champions by comfortable margins, wound up as No. 1 teams.

North Pocono opened the season in third, took over the top spot in the third of 10 weekly polls and held it the rest of the way. The Trojans were unbeaten champions of the Lackawanna League.

Crestwood was first in every set of rankings during the season. The Lady Comets were unbeaten champions of the Wyoming Valley Conference.

Five teams made positive moves for the final rankings of the season.

Montrose and Abington Heights moved up to second and third while Elk Lake joined the rankings on the girls side.

Lake-Lehman and Crestwood each moved up in boys.

Abington Heights and Holy Redeemer remained second and third in boys.

Lake-Lehman and Crestwood moved up one spot each to fourth and fifth.

Montrose dropped two places to sixth.

The second half of the rankings – Mid Valley seventh, followed, in order, by Dallas, Scranton Prep, Honesdale, Blue Ridge and Berwick – remained the same as the previous week.

Montrose, Abington Heights and each gained one position while Holy Redeemer dropped from second to fourth in girls.

Dallas, Honesdale, Valley View, North Pocono, Lake-Lehman, Scranton and Delaware Valley held fifth through 11th.

Elk Lake moved into the 12th spot after finishing in the top half of the field in the state Class A race.

The rankings, with records, district finish, state team finishes and previous positions:
