Old Forge moves up to No. 2

The three remaining state title contenders from District 2 are all prominent in this week’s Gaughan Auto Store Super Six Football Power Rankings.

Valley View, in Big Schools, and Scranton Prep, in Small Schools, continue to hold down No. 1 rankings.

Old Forge moves into the No. 2 spot among Small Schools in the weekly rankings of Lackawanna Football Conference and Wyoming Valley Conference teams on our partner website, NEPAFootball.com.

The Cougars, Cavaliers and Blue Devils have all reached the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association quarterfinals, putting them three wins away from state titles.

The only movement in this week’s rankings is Old Forge moving from third to second after winning its first-round state Class A game, 26-7, over Williams Valley and Wyoming Area dropping from second to third after falling to Scranton Prep, 28-0, in the District 2 Class 3A final.

Scranton Prep and Old Forge are both unbeaten and getting ready to take on unbeaten opponents in state play.

Valley View is 12-1 with its only loss coming against Scranton Prep.

The Cougars held No. 1 with a 42-7 rout of No. 3 North Pocono in the District 2 Class 4A championship game. They host Bishop Shanahan from Downingtown in District 1 Friday at 7 p.m.

Second-ranked Delaware Valley and North Pocono both had their seasons end.

State College defeated Delaware Valley, 28-19, in the first round of the state Class 6A playoffs.
