Billy Pabst Jr. broke into the Penn State lineup for the second tournament of his college career and stayed there for the last three events of a four-tournament fall schedule for the Nittany Lions.
Pabst had his best round of the season in his second college round, during the Old Town Collegiate in Winston Salem, N.C. in late September. Pabst shot a 2-under-par, 68 in the middle round of the 54-hole event and finished at 3-over, 213 for a tie for 34th out of 63 players. He helped Penn State place fourth of 11 teams.
One of three freshmen in the Penn State lineup, Pabst had the fourth-best stroke average among the six players who filled five spots during the fall.
The North Pocono graduate, a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state Class 3A runner-up last season, helped Penn State to its best finish of the season when it took third at the Georgetown Intercollegiate Oct. 10-11. Pabst closed with a 1-over, 73 for a 227 that was 38th out of 60 in the field.
Pabst wrapped up his season with a 6-over, 222 that included his second under-par round of the season in the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational in Vero Beach, Fla.
