Wallenpaupack and Honesdale used strong defensive efforts to post Lackawanna League Division 2 girls basketball victories Monday night.
Wallenpaupack entered the night in a three-way tie for the division lead, but took over sole possession by easily handling one of the teams it was tied with, defending champion Western Wayne, 51-21.
Honesdale won the division’s other game, 32-13, over Delaware Valley.
Wallenpaupack improved to 3-0 and wound up alone in first place when North Pocono lost to Division 1 power Scranton Prep, 59-29, in a crossover game that is part of the Division 2 standings.
The Lady Buckhorns will try to protect their perfect league record Thursday at Honesdale.
