Rashan Locke-Hicks scored 18 points and landed the Most Valuable Player award for leading Math, Civics & Science Charter Academy from Philadelphia to the championship of the James Akens Tournament with Thursday’s 64-47 victory over host North Pocono.
Saaid Lee scored nine points and also made the all-tournament team for the Mighty Elephants.
North Pocono’s A.J. Nemitz drained six 3-pointers while scoring a game-high 22 points and making the all-tournament team.
Chris Walsh added 11 points in the loss.
Forest City 54, Mountain View 45
Forest City took third place when Dylan Bezek scored 19 points in a victory over Lackawanna League Division 4 rival Mountain View in Thursday’s opener.
Bezek made the all-tournament team.
Brad Bartholomay made three 3-pointers while adding 16 points for the Foresters.
D.J. Heath was 3-for-4 from the line in the fourth quarter while adding 12.
Tanner Stout led Mountain View with 17 points.
North Pocono 62, Forest City 49
Nemitz scored 18 points and Walsh added 17 when North Pocono advanced to the final with Tuesday’s victory.
Nemitz made four 3-pointers.
Walsh had 8 points in the fourth quarter and 12 total in the second half.
Noah West chipped in with 12 points.
Bezek led Forest City with 16 points and Max Urbas added 12.
Math, Civics & Science 71, Mountain View 29
Math, Civics & Science ran out to leads of 27-6 after one quarter and 47-14 at halftime of Tuesday’s first semifinal.
Chauncey Presley led the way with 19 points, 12 of them in the first half.
All-tournament pick Ryan Drake went 6-for-6 from the line while leading the Eagles with 10 points. Hudson Bain had eight.
