PIAA BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Hockenbury, Jones top finishers

Elk Lake freshman Kendel Jones finished 12th in Class A for the highest place finish by a District 2 boy Saturday afternoon in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Cross Country Championships on the Hershey Parkview Course.

Nick Hockenbury from Lake-Lehman had the fastest time among district runners, finishing the 3.1-mile course in 17:04.2 while placing 21st in Class 2A.

Jones was one of four district boys in Class A and five total to earn medals. He posted a time of 17:35.0.

Wyoming Seminary’s Jack Novelli was 15th, Lackawanna Trail’s Brayden Clarke 20th and Montrose’s Nate Sinkovich 24th.

Oliver Heintzelman, a sophomore from former District 2 and current Wyoming Valley Conference member Northwest, was 13th.

Honesdale had the best team finish, placing 12th in Class 2A.

Elk Lake, in Class A, and Crestwood, in Class 2A, each finished 13th.

Abington Heights was 19th in Class 3A.
