MMI Prep played from behind from the top of the first to the bottom of the third inning Wednesday, but once the Preppers got rolling, they did not stop until they had finished off Susquehanna in six innings in the District 2-12 Class A Subregional baseball championship game.
Marcus Danchision struck out 12 in a one-hitter while Kevin McNulty went 3-for-3 with two doubles as MMI Prep defeated Susquehanna, 11-1.
The Sabers scored their run in the top of the first when Zachary Consla drove in Brad Cottrell with Susquehanna’s only hit.
While holding Susquehanna hitless the rest of the way, Danchision issued just one walk.
The Preppers put up runs in each of their last four at-bats, scoring four in the third, three in the fourth, two in the fifth and two more in a sixth in that they did not have to complete.
Freshman Cory Nolasco went 2-for-3 with a double, a sacrifice fly, a run and two RBI.
Jimmy Kelly went 2-for-2 and drove in a run.
McNulty stole two bases and scored twice.
MMI Prep moves into the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state tournament Monday against District 3 champion Greenwood. The game will be played at a District 3 site.
