Ramirez returns DV to tie for first

Jayden Ramirez put Delaware Valley ahead to stay on the second-half kickoff, lifting the defending champion Warriors into a tie for the Lackawanna Football Conference Division 1 lead with a 28-14 victory over Scranton.

Delaware Valley has won five of its last six games to improve to 5-4 overall. The Warriors are 4-1 in the division, tied with Scranton Prep and Valley View. A win over Abington Heights in the finale would give Delaware Valley a share of the title with the Scranton Prep-Valley View winner.

Scranton has lost three straight after a 6-0 start and is 2-3 in the division.

Ryder Machado ran for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns while contributing defensively to the win. He made three tackles, assisted four more and intercepted a pass.

The teams were tied 7-7 after one quarter and 14-14 at halftime.

Machado opened the scoring when he took a lateral swing pass 37 yards down the left sideline.

Matt Shilling returned the ensuing kickoff to the Delaware Valley 15. From there, he pulled in the first of two Billy Maloney touchdown passes.

Quarterback Logan Olsommer, who was also 5-for-5 passing, went 58 yards down the left sideline for another Delaware Valley score. Machado ran for a fourth-quarter touchdown to help secure the win.
