ROUNDUP: AH posts key golf win

Abington Heights protected and expanded its Lackawanna League Class 3A Division golf lead Friday afternoon with a 7-2 victory over visiting North Pocono in a match played at Glen Oak Country Club.

Cade Kelleher and Luke Morgan each shot 2-over-par, 38 while winning in both singles and better-ball for the Comets.

The Comets had more wins going into the day, but the teams were even in the loss and tie columns after playing to a 4½-4½ tie at Elmhurst Country Club earlier in the season.

Conner Abel, Kelleher’s partner in the first foursome, and Alec Hamilton, Morgan’s partner in the last foursome, also won in singles and better-ball as the Comets improved to 8-0-1 while dropping the Trojans to 5-1-1.

Kelleher, Morgan and Robert Munley, who claimed the only Abington Heights point in the middle foursome, all had birdies on the seventh hole.

Jason Walsh had birdies on 1 and 5 for North Pocono while picking up the only singles win for the Trojans and leading better-ball team, with Reilly McCullough, to victory.

Maddie Valvano and Connor Mullaney won in singles and better-ball to help Dunmore defeat Blue Ridge, 5½-3½, in a Lackawanna Class 2A Division match.

Old Forge posted its first victory, beating Lakeland, 7-2.
