ROUNDUP: Vikes no-hit Chargers

R.J. Santarsiero struck out 11 in a four-inning, no-hitter Saturday as Riverside shut out visiting Carbondale, 15-0, in a Lackawanna League Division 3 baseball game.

The Vikings scored eight times in the bottom of the fourth inning to end the game early on the Mercy Rule.

Jason Janesko was 2-for-2 with a double, two walks, two runs and an RBI from the leadoff spot.

Jimmy Decker also had two hits and scored three times.

Chase Taddonio, who had the team’s other double, and Anthony Karpinski drove in three runs each. Karpinski was 1-for-1 with two walks.

The Vikings made the most of 13 hits and 10 walks.

Thomas Day, who was 1-for-1 and was hit by two pitches, also scored three times.

Riverside remained in first place, improving to 4-0 in the division and 7-1 overall.

Delaware Valley used a 13-run top of the sixth inning to defeat Pittston Area, 17-3, in six innings in a non-league game.

C.J. Ross and Quinn Carrabba each went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Ross scored three times and Carrabba twice.

SOFTBALL

Emma Conte hit a three-run homer and Moriah Murray struck out 11 as Dunmore edged Western Wayne, 3-2, to move into a first-place tie with Mid Valley in Lackawanna League Division 3.

The Lady Bucks remained unbeaten at 4-0 in the division and 6-0 overall.

Morgan Quinn made a diving catch in right field, then threw out a runner for a double play.

Carissa Tallo added a double.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Crestwood remained unbeaten through seven Wyoming Valley Conference games by defeating Abington Heights, 16-8.

Lake-Lehman and Wyoming Seminary moved into third-place ties at 4-1 with wins.

Lake-Lehman edged Delaware Valley, 10-9, and Wyoming Area routed Tunkhannock, 16-4.
