Nick Biasi kept Abington Heights scoreless, then made sure Hazleton Area had enough runs to end the game early.
Biasi allowed just 2 hits while striking out 10 in 4 scoreless innings and hit a three-run homer Saturday when the Cougars rolled to a 10-0, five-inning victory in the non-league game between the Division 1 baseball leaders of their respective conferences at PNC Field in Moosic.
Hazleton Area hit three home runs in the game.
Jatnk Diaz and Ryan Verbonitz hit solo shots.
Verbonitz led off the top of the fifth with his homer. Biasi, who finished with four RBI, added a three-run shot to cap the four-run inning and give Hazleton Area the lead it needed to end the game early on the 10-run rule.
Michael Kilker struck out two in a hitless bottom of the fifth to end the game.
Grant Russo went 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored from the leadoff position.
Bryce Molinaro was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and two runs scored.
Hazleton Area improved to 16-0 with the win.

It turned into a rough day at PNC Field for the Comets, who then also suffered their first league loss while seeing their Division 1 lead shrink to one game.
Last-place and previously winless Scranton jumped on Abington Heights for six runs in the first inning, added five in the third and put the game away, 14-0, in 4 ½ innings.
Mike Murphy, who had a bases-loaded triple in the third inning, and Jake Stankowski each drove in four runs.
Charlie Talapa tossed a three-hitter.

Dante Ruby held Pittston Area to four hits for 6 2/3 innings and also had a double, single, run and RBI.

Xander Kelly, who had two assists, and Nate Melnick each scored five goals to lead Delaware Valley to a 17-2 romp over Wilkes-Barre Area in a Wyoming Valley Conference game.
The Warriors opened a 16-1 halftime lead on the way to their seventh straight victory.
Jack Senape scored both goals for the Wolfpack.
Perkiomen Valley handed WVC leader Crestwood its second non-league loss, 10-9.
