Noah Schultz led a 516-yard ground attack – as well as a second-quarter outburst – as Crestwood ran over host Wilkes-Barre Area, 45-14, in a Sept. 30 Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 football game.
Schultz picked up 327 yards on 20 carries. He scored four touchdowns, two of them during a 26-point, second quarter that the Comets used to break the game open.
Jaden Shedlock, who added 67 yards and 2 touchdowns on 8 carries, ran 20 yards for a score as Crestwood began adding to the 12-7 lead it held after one quarter.
Schultz then scored on 86 and 9 yard runs 3:31 apart.
The Comets attempted just 4 passes and completed just 2, but that included a 30-yard touchdown from Nick Miscavage to Joshua Hilpp on the final play of the second quarter for a 38-7 halftime lead.
Schultz also had a 48-yard touchdown run to open the game and a 2-yarder with 38 seconds left in the third quarter to push the game into the Mercy Rule.
Shedlock’s 2-yard run gave the Comets a 12-0 lead just 4:20 into the game on the way to their fourth straight win. Crestwood is 3-1 in the division and 5-1 overall.
Wilkes-Barre Area (1-2 and 3-3) was led by Mekhi Nelson, who carried 23 times for 153 yards and both his team’s touchdowns. He scored from the 1 in the first quarter, then broke a 74-yard run around left end in the fourth.
Cole Kalecik led the Crestwood defense with nine tackles, including a sack and another for a loss.
