SOFTBALL: Elk Lake, Holy Cross back in 2A championship game

Elk Lake and Holy Cross are back for another meeting in the District 2 Class 2A softball championship game.

The meets will meet Tuesday at 4:30 at Tunkhannock in a rematch of the game Elk Lake won, 2-1, a year ago.

Elk Lake is the top seed and Lackawanna League Division 4 champion. Holy Cross is the second seed.

Each needed just one playoff win to get back to the final of the five-team tournament.

Lakeland went on the road to post the quarterfinal win after going winless in the regular season.


Elk Lake 2, Lakeland 1

Elk Lake fought off an upset bid from Lakeland to return to the district final.

Holy Cross 8, Carbondale 0

Mia Galella and Kaci Kranson each hit home runs to help back the shutout pitching of Megan Nidoh.
