Strong week for ranked teams

The teams that made up the first set of Riverfront Sports Elite Eight Boys Tennis Power Rankings of District 2 teams kept rolling as the regular season reached the midway point.

The ranked teams went 17-0 when facing unranked teams and the higher-ranked teams won both meetings of ranked teams.

As a result, the top half of the Elite Eight remained the same when new rankings were released early Saturday morning.

Valley View moves up one spot and North Pocono joins the rankings in eighth in the only changes this week.

Abington Heights remains No. 1 with Dallas, Delaware Valley and Holy Cross holding down the next three spots.

The top three are undefeated and fourth-ranked Holy Cross suffered its first loss in a Lackawanna League match with top-ranked Abington Heights.

Valley View traded places with Scranton Prep in fifth and sixth after both teams won three matches to improve to 7-1 on the season.

Wyoming Area won twice to remain unbeaten through four matches and hold on to seventh.

North Pocono, which has won four straight to reach 6-3, replaces Wyoming Seminary in eighth.
