Super Six teams protect spots

It took a top-five team nationally to beat a member of the Golden Dome Abstract Super Six Field Hockey Power Rankings of District 2 teams.

The six teams in the rankings went a combined 12-1 with the only loss coming when top-ranked Wyoming Seminary invited in Episcopal Academy and took a 2-1 loss against the suburban Philadelphia team that had opened the season ranked No. 1 in the country, according to maxfieldhockey.com.

The Blue Knights were not punished in the local rankings for such a loss and subsequently all the perfect weeks behind them led to the Super Six remaining the same again.

The rankings, which were released Friday afternoon, are the same as those of Sept. 24 and Oct. 1.

Wyoming Seminary is followed by: Wyoming Area, Crestwood, Lake-Lehman, Honesdale and Lackawanna Trail.

Wyoming Area and Lake-Lehman share the district’s best overall record at 10-1.

Crestwood used its three-win week to become the first team to clinch a berth in the District 2-4 Class 2A Subregional tournament.
