Three Lackawanna teams move up

The number of teams with unbeaten league records in District 2 swimming dropped from five to three on both the boys and girls sides in the past week.

Those changes were reflected in the new Riverfront Sports Super Six Swimming Power Rankings of District 2 teams, which were released Wednesday, following the results from Tuesday’s meets.

Scranton Prep moved past Wyoming Seminary into fourth in the boys rankings after the Blue Knights fell to third-ranked Dallas, 56-38, in a Wyoming Valley Conference meet.

Delaware Valley climbed over Wyoming Seminary into third and Valley View moved past Tunkhannock into fifth in the girls rankings.

Wyoming Seminary suffered its first loss, 63-30, to Holy Redeemer while Valley View went on the road to hand Elk Lake its first Lackawanna League loss, 93-86.

The Holy Redeemer boys also lost for the first time, 52-40, against Wyoming Seminary, but held sixth.

The Hazleton Area boys and Scranton Prep girls continue to hold down the top spots.

Delaware Valley and Dallas are second and third in boys behind Hazleton Area.

Dallas held second in girls.
