THURSDAY RECAP: Wyoming Area still perfect in girls lacrosse

Makenzie Switzer scored six goals and assisted on two others Thursday when Wyoming Area downed Scranton Prep, 13-8, in a meeting of Wyoming Valley Conference girls lacrosse unbeatens.

Avery Bogdon posted her 100th career save in the second half when Crestwood defeated Hazleton Area, 15-9, in another WVC game. Bodgon finished with eight saves and Isabella Caporuscio scored six goals.

Rachel Shook scored seven goals and assisted on another when Lake-Lehman handled North Pocono, 20-6, in a WVC game. Lilian Raczkowski added four goals and five assists. Carena Colo scored four times for the Lady Trojans.

SOFTBALL

Sophia Mandarano, Maddie Lessard and Lexie Santarsiero homered in Dunmore’s 14-1 Lackawanna League Division 3 romp over Western Wayne. Moriah Murray struck out seven for the win and also had two hits.

Kaya Hannon struck out nine in a four-hitter and Tunkhannock rallied past Berwick, 6-2, with two runs in the bottom of the fifth and three more in the sixth of the WVC Division 1 game.

Sage Weidlich and Ava Callahan each had three hits and Tori Para tossed a five-inning, two-hitter as Pittston Area downed Wilkes-Barre Area, 12-2, in a WVC Division 1 game.

BASEBALL

Dustin Ferraro, Tim Smith and Luke Janiszewski had three hits each when Western Wayne defeated host Dunmore, 11-3, in Lackawanna Division 3. Zane Janiszewski struck out eight in the win.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

Dylan Aquino, Cristian Buckley and Joe Cardillo each won two individual events and were part of relay wins when Dunmore defeated Riverside, 89-43, in a Lackawanna Track Conference Division 3 meet.
