Tuesday is district team championship day in two often-individual sports that also have a team component.

District 2 will crown its girls tennis and boys golf team champions with titles awarded in Class 3A and 2A.

Girls tennis is down to its final four in each bracket and will hold two rounds of competition in each class at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre.

Boys golf has two finalists, one from each conference, in each class for an 18-hole, medal-play event that gets underway at 8:55 a.m. at Fox Hill Country Club.

Teams are competing in the state format, which is five players with the low four scores counting.

All four golf finalists went unbeaten in league play this season.

Scranton Prep goes after its seventh straight Class 2A boys golf title against a Lake-Lehman team that has been ranked first among Small Schools all season in the Riverfront Sports Super Six Golf Power Rankings of district teams.

Crestwood and Abington Heights play in Class 3A.

Similarly in girls tennis, the top four seeds in each class all advanced to the semifinals with wins last week.

Top-seed and four-time defending champion Abington Heights faces West Scranton while Crestwood takes on Wallenpaupack in the Class 3A semifinals at 11 a.m.

Top-seed and defending Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state Class 2A champion Wyoming Seminary faces Wyoming Area, making its first semifinal appearance. Lackawanna League champion Scranton Prep plays Dallas, hoping to set up a potential match of unbeatens.

The Class 2A semifinals are scheduled for 12:30 p.m., the Class 3A final is set for 2 p.m. and the Class 2A final is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
